1. How did Rent City come to life?
Rent City was formed in early 2011 with the aim to provide a far superior solution to property investment and to provide excellent property management.
We reviewed our industry and put ourselves in the customer’s shoes to see how we could improve property investment. Rent City Managing Director Kyle Olufson drew from nearly a decade of experience working within mainstream real estate agencies and believed that overall owners and tenants alike were disappointed with the quality of interaction they received when dealing with Cairns Real Estate Agents.
The solution? Complete focus and attention to the inner workings of property management as well as assuring the individual needs of Rent City clients are met. Based in Cairns, Far North Queensland, Rent City manages Property from Palm Cove to Gordonvale. Here we are today managing over 300 properties with very happy clients and tenants!

2. Who is the best customer you have ever had?
All of our customers/clients are great. We especially appreciate our clients who constantly refer business to us and who are continually singing our praises. Our business is 100% word of mouth and referral and we cannot thank them enough.
3. What’s the best experience you have had in the business so far?
Hearing from satisfied clients is definitely the best experience in the business, especially when the clients have come from another agency where they were not happy and couldn’t get the results they wished for.
4. What’s that one thing in your business venture that you’re really happy about?
Here at Rent City we are very proud to have NEVER had a client terminate our services from an unsatisfied experience.

5. How do you make things lighter or hassle-free when you manage your business?
We have really good systems and policies in places to help our property managers carry out their job effectively with excellent administration and management help.
6. What green practices do you follow at Rent City? And how do you think these can contribute to sustainability?
We are currently in the process of working towards a paperless office by no longer printing emails. We are also in the process of implementing that forms and documents be completed via a computer or iPad apps and emailed instead of being printed.
The Best Decision…
7. What’s the smartest decision you’ve ever made amidst a risky situation?
Starting our business was probably one of the riskiest decisions we had made. We were in a tough market at the time and things had slowed down. However, as most would agree, you can build a successful business in a slow market if you have a point of difference and the willingness to stick it out. Four years later and it was the best decision we ever made. We now have a successful business that is constantly growing and very happy clients.

8. Do you want to give a shout-out to your favourite Alsco Customer Service rep? What would you say?
I emailed our Cairns Rep and received a response straight away. Within a few days of completing the paper work we had our product delivered to our business.
9. What’s that one Alsco product/service that you really really like?
We only use one service and have had no issues.
