In a major sustainability milestone, Alsco Uniforms Australia is proud to announce the diversion of over one million kilograms of polyester-cotton textile waste from landfill. This achievement stems from our strong and ongoing partnership with BlockTexx®, an Australian innovator in textile recycling.
From Innovation to Impact
Our journey with BlockTexx began in 2018, when founders Adrian Jones and Graham Ross introduced us to their unique textile recycling technology. At the time, their solution to separate polyester and cellulose from blended fabrics was still being developed in a lab. Even then, we saw the potential for large-scale environmental impact, particularly for businesses like ours that manage significant volumes of workwear and textile products.

As a Uniform & Linen provider, we understand that textiles eventually reach the end of their life. Without proper processes in place, these materials often end up in landfill. That’s why we committed to exploring a better alternative.
Building a Greener Path for Textiles
In 2022, BlockTexx opened their dedicated recycling facility in Loganholme, Queensland. That same year, Alsco Uniforms became a foundation partner, meaning our end-of-life textiles would be sent to their facility for responsible processing.
Since then, we’ve been taking action, contributing our used uniforms and textiles to this innovative solution to minimise waste.
A Million Kilos and Counting
We’re proud to share that, as of 2024, we’ve officially diverted over one million kilograms of textile waste from landfill. That’s a powerful result, showing that small, consistent steps can lead to significant environmental benefits over time.
This achievement is a testament to what’s possible when businesses collaborate for good. It also reinforces our belief that sustainability must be practical, measurable, and ongoing.
