Alsco Uniforms is proud to announce the beginning of an exciting new chapter in our history with the construction of a state-of-the-art laundry facility in Port Kembla, Wollongong. This significant milestone represents not only an investment in our operations but also in the community, culture, and future of the Illawarra region.

A Facility Designed for the Future

The new greenfield site has been carefully planned to deliver innovation, sustainability, and efficiency at every stage. Once complete, the facility will include:

  • Robotics and automation to improve productivity and streamline processes.
  • A 150-tonne laundry capacity – three times larger than our current facility, enabling us to better serve more businesses across New South Wales.
  • Industry-leading design to become one of Alsco Uniforms’ most energy-efficient and lowest carbon-emitting laundries in Australia.

This investment underlines our long-term commitment to both environmental responsibility and delivering best-in-class service to our customers.

Partnering for Success

We’re proud to be working with Dice Renascent, our construction partner, and Accelerate, our project management partner, to bring this purpose-built industrial facility to life. Their expertise and dedication have made this project possible and ensure it reflects the highest standards of quality and innovation.

Grounded in Culture and Community

The significance of this milestone was recognised through a Turning the Soil ceremony. The day began with a smoking ceremony led by local Elders – a cultural practice using native plants to cleanse, protect, and bless new beginnings.

Adding to the ceremony’s meaning, hand-painted ceremonial shovels created by Saltwater Dreamtime symbolised journey, unity, and connection, reflecting the strong ties between community, culture, and progress.

Strengthening the Illawarra Region

Beyond its technological and environmental advancements, this project represents a significant investment in the Illawarra. The new facility will create local jobs, support regional businesses, and contribute to the economic growth of Wollongong and surrounding communities.

Looking Ahead

This project is more than just a new building – it’s about shaping the future of our industry. By combining innovation, sustainability, and cultural respect, we are building a stronger foundation for our people, our customers, and the communities we serve.

We look forward to sharing more updates as this exciting project comes to life.
